Museum | Torre Canne | Puglia | Italy

The Mumaf - Museum of Seamanship and Lighthouses in Torre Canne, Apulia, is a significant museum dedicated to the history of navigation and lighthouses. It was opened in 2020 and is located in a historic building that once served as a lighthouse keeper's house. The museum consists of three main areas:

Maritime Section: This section presents a collection of tools and equipment used in navigation, as well as models of ships and historical photographs documenting the maritime heritage of the region.

Lighthouse Section: Here, the history and importance of lighthouses along the Apulian coast are highlighted. Models of lighthouses, historical documents, and photographs are exhibited, providing insight into the lives of lighthouse keepers and the development of lighthouse technology.

Reconstruction of the Lighthouse Keeper's Office: In this area, the office of a lighthouse keeper has been faithfully recreated to give visitors an authentic impression of the working environment and daily life of the keepers.

The Mumaf offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the maritime history of Apulia and understand the development of navigation and lighthouse facilities. The museum serves as a cultural center that preserves and promotes the maritime heritage of the region.
